Why this exists—and who it's for
Aging Solo Today was created for a simple reason:
More people are navigating the second half of life without a built-in support system—and most of the guidance out there doesn't reflect that reality.
Just real life—and the need to figure things out.
This space exists to make that easier.
But with clear, practical guidance that helps you prepare—on your own terms.
The goal is simple:
You don't need a perfect plan.
You need a clear place to start—and a steady way forward.
We believe that aging solo is not a problem to fix.
It's a reality to prepare for.
And when you prepare intentionally:
We also believe:
Small steps matter more than big plans
Clarity is more valuable than complexity
Support can be built—even if it's not built in
You don't need to do everything.
You just need to begin.
Most advice about aging assumes something:
That someone will be there.
But that's not true for everyone.
And even when it is, it's not always reliable.
Aging Solo Today takes a different approach.
This space is built for what we call the Solo Ager.
Someone who:
Not behind.
Not unprepared.
Just paying attention—and taking the next step.
You don't need to read everything.
Start where it feels most relevant:
Your home and daily environment
Your support circle
Your legal and financial planning
Your health and emergency preparation
Each area connects to a larger system—so you can build stability over time.
It started as a realization.
After years of working with students, families, and people navigating major life transitions—and while helping care for my own mother—I began to see something clearly:
A lot of people are doing this alone.
Not in a dramatic way.
But in a quiet, everyday way.
And at some point, that reality becomes impossible to ignore.
I realized I wasn't just helping others think about the future—I needed to think about my own.
What would happen if something changed?
Who would know what to do?
What systems did I actually have in place?
That's where this started.
Not from fear.
From awareness.

You don't need to have everything figured out.
You don't need a perfect system.
You just need to be paying attention—and willing to take the next step.
That's enough.
