About Aging Solo
Led by a Dean, fueled by a son's devotion, and designed for the independent heart.
I. The Origin
Mike C.
Founder
"For 24 years, my life has been defined by the 'Syllabus.' As a Dean of Students, I've spent my career building systems of support for thousands of people. But my most profound lessons didn't come from a boardroom—they came from my mother's living room.
Every other weekend, I travel to support my 88-year-old mother. Together, we navigate the world through her visual and hearing impairments. I am her CFO, her navigator, and her safety net.
In the quiet moments of caregiving, I looked at my own life. At 61, I am healthy and my life is full, but I am also alone. I have no children; I have never married. I realized that while I am my mother's safety net, I had to build my own.
Aging Solo was born from that realization. I decided to apply the same administrative rigor and community-building expertise I've used for students to create a 'Syllabus for Solo Aging.' If the traditional village doesn't exist for us, we will build a modern one—defined by intentionality, information, and shared strength."

II. Our Philosophy
The foundation of everything we do at Aging Solo
We start with empathy. We know the weight of the "What If" questions.
Our resources are acts of love designed to protect your dignity.
We hold space for the vulnerability of aging without a traditional net.
We are peers. We are living this journey in real-time alongside you.
We are firm in our planning. We do not leave our futures to chance.
We believe in the power of the 'Soloist' to adapt, thrive, and bounce back.
III. Our Model
In academia, a clearinghouse is a central station for vetted information. Aging Solo is that station for your future. We bridge the gap between "Independence" and "Isolation" by providing:
Legal and medical pros who actually 'get' solo agers.
Checklists and audits to secure your home and legacy.
A private community where no one is invisible.

IV. The Dean's Commitment
"As your 'Dean of Aging Solo,' I promise that this will always be a sanctuary of high-integrity information. We seek community, and we are community in everything we do. We aren't just planning for retirement; we are securing our sovereignty."

V. Our Community
Real people building real connections. Every member brings unique experience and a shared commitment to aging with intention and dignity.
"I spent years thinking I had to figure everything out alone. Finding Aging Solo changed that. The resources, the community, the sense of belonging—it's like having a family I chose."

V. Member Stories
Real stories from real soloists who found their village
"I thought being a solo ager meant I had to be a superhero. Joining this community taught me that resilience actually comes from saying 'I need a hand.' I found my check-in buddy here, and for the first time in years, I sleep better knowing someone is looking out for me."
