The Aging Solo Today Binder

Aging Solo Isn't About Doing It Alone. It's About Doing It On Purpose.

The Aging Solo Today Binder is a real, physical resource for the person planning their own next chapter — without assuming a spouse, adult child, or default caregiver will be there.

Most "aging" resources weren't written for you.

They assume there's a spouse in the kitchen. Adult children in the next town over. A default someone who'll notice when things start slipping.

If you're single, widowed, divorced, childless, or geographically alone — the standard advice reads like a language you don't speak.

You're not a problem to be solved. You're a person who's decided to think ahead. That deserves better than pamphlets and platitudes.

A working document. Not a doorstop.

The Aging Solo Today Binder is a 44-page printed workbook with 11 tabbed sections, built to sit on your kitchen counter — not on a shelf collecting dust.

You fill it in as decisions become real. Not all at once. Not on a deadline. As life unfolds.

11 sections cover:

Who to call when something goes wrong (and in what order)

The paperwork that actually matters (and the paperwork that doesn't)

Medical wishes without medical language

Home safety plans for aging in place

Money, bills, and where they live

Trusted people — and how to ask them

Pet care if you're not there

Small stuff nobody thinks about (mail, plants, the freezer)

What your circle needs to know

Your voice: letters, videos, the things you'd want said

Your own way: rituals, wishes, what matters to you

Physical specs:

1-inch printed vinyl 3-ring binder. 44 full-color pages on 70# stock. 11 die-cut tabs with clear mylar. Made in the USA. Printed to order.

This binder was built for people who:

Live alone — by choice or by circumstance

Don't want to burden anyone but want a plan in place

Are tired of being told to "have the conversation" without knowing what to say

Know a good folder is worth more than a hundred saved bookmarks

Believe planning ahead is a gift you give yourself

Not for people who:

Want a medical guide (this isn't one, and won't be)

Are looking for legal templates (see a professional)

Prefer digital-only tools (this is a physical resource on purpose)

Because paper still matters.

When you're in a hospital and someone asks who to call — no one is opening your laptop. When your neighbor comes by after a fall — they're not logging into an app.

The binder sits where it needs to sit: at home, visible, findable, in the hands of anyone who's suddenly helping.

Digital tools are for you. This binder is for everyone else who might need to step in.

Why I made this.

I'm Mike Crawford. I spent 23 years as Dean of Students at a college — my job was helping people navigate the moments when everything shifts. Then I watched my own mother start needing help, and I realized: most families don't have a plan. Most solo agers don't either.

I built Aging Solo Today for the person I couldn't find resources for — the one who's aging without a partner or adult children as the automatic backup. This binder is the tool I wish existed a decade ago.

It's not clinical. It's not preachy. It's practical.
